Hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of TiO<sub>2</sub>-silica composites for dye-sensitized solar cell electrode

Abstract The current world energy crisis and increase in global temperature has further necessitated the need to conduct more research on solar cells. Dye sensitized cells (DSSCs) remain one of cheapest cell technologies, but it inherent challenges. Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) remains suitable electrode materials, requires modification withstand technology problems. In this paper, silica was produced from rice husk incorporated into TiO tailor its wide band gap. Hydrothermal method used synthesize -silica composites at 150°C. gap virgin , -4.8 wt% 20 found be 3.73 eV, 2.91 eV 2.85 respectively. addition 4.8 resulted good stability anatase compared judging absorbance plots.
